Job description

Job Title: Turf Equipment Mechanic

Reports to: Equipment Manager/Golf Course Superintendent

Rate: $20-30/hr, Based on Experience

Hours: 40-48 per week

Timeframe: Fulltime, year-round

Job Responsibilities (including the following but not limited to):

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment above industry standards. This includes, but is not limited to preventative maintenance programs, engine tune-ups, carburetor adjustments, tire repairs, ensuring safe and proper operation of hydraulic, brake, fuel, steering, electrical, and cooling systems.
  • Adjust, sharpen, and maintain reel mowers to ensure proper reel to bed knife adjustment and proper height-of-cut on all cutting units.
  • Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
  • Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.
  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
  • Ensure OSHA standards are followed in shop maintenance as well as the recycling and disposal of used material, including batteries and hazardous materials.
  • Perform occasional welding, machining, and painting.
  • Other duties assigned by a supervisor.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Certification from a vocational school or trade school is preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
