Job summary

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company is seeking a Weed Scientist to design and support a diverse portfolio of lawn and landscape products. You will lead field and greenhouse research, develop product standards, and contribute to regulatory dossiers and consumer communications.

The role requires a Ph.D. in Weed Science or related field, strong data skills, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to commercialize homeowner lawn care solutions. Starting pay range is $77,200–$90,800 per year.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Weed Science preferred or related field.
• Experience in turfgrass research or similar settings.
• Ability to design and lead research programs to answer key questions.
• Hands-on experience with turfgrass management practices.
• Strong statistical analysis skills using common software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead field and greenhouse research, including trial setup, data collection, analysis, and reporting for product claims.
• Collaborate with R&D, marketing, regulatory, sourcing and manufacturing to align goals.
• Provide technical assistance across departments and mentor team members.
• Interact with industry/university partners to scout new technologies and trends.
• Develop and follow SOPs for research activities.
• Communicate findings to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Support regulatory dossiers, partnerships, and cost-out initiatives.
