Qualifications

• Associates degree in Turf Management or related field with 3 years of related experience.
• Experience developing turf maintenance plans, irrigation, fertilization and cultural practices.
• Must have or obtain pesticide applicator license within 6 months; backflow testing license within 1 year.
• Ability to supervise staff, manage budgets, and maintain detailed records.

Responsibilities

• Plans and coordinates turf maintenance activities for parks, grounds, and recreational areas.
• Direct supervision of Parks Maintenance Workers and seasonal staff.
• Develops turf maintenance plans including irrigation installations, fertilization, and cultural practices.
• Performs soil testing and analysis to diagnose turf problems (disease, pests, soil issues).
• Plans, prepares, and applies treatments (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides) and maintains records.
• Maintains detailed reports and records of turf maintenance activities.
• Monitors annual operating budget to stay within allocations.
• Writes specifications and provides technical expertise in equipment and supplies purchases.
• Demonstrates knowledge of chemical usage and pesticide regulations.
