Job Title

Turf Extrusion Operator II

Position Overview

Position Objective: Operates and monitors the Turf Extrusion line in a safe and efficient manner to produce a first-quality product. Performs testing on certain physical properties of Turf Extrusion yarn to ensure all yarn products meet quality standards.

Essential Duties
  1. Performs regular and routine inspections of the line to ensure the production of a first-quality product, taking corrective action when quality defects are encountered.
  2. Verifies equipment settings are correct.
  3. Threads/ties in line following correct procedures (through water tank, rolls, ovens, to winder, etc.).
  4. Doffs, ties, and inspects all finished packages for defects to ensure quality.
  5. Applies correct product labels with operator ID on each finished package and places them in trays on the packing rail.
  6. Prepares pallets, boxes, tops, bottoms, and dividers for direct packout.
  7. Prepares barcode labels for containers of production.
  8. Repairs all breakouts and restarts the line as soon as possible.
  9. Responsible for dispositioning cordage packages.
  10. Performs color changes following correct procedures.
  11. Responsible for proper shutdown/startup procedures.
  12. Ensures proper specifications are placed on the job.
  13. Maintains product standards.
  14. Handles cake and aspirator waste appropriately.
  15. Maintains accurate records of all downtime.
  16. Performs minor mechanical repairs as needed.
  17. Communicates with off-going/on-coming shifts regarding the line's condition.
  18. Works closely with management during product changes, shutdowns, or startups.
  19. Responsible for numbering and placing tubes in tube holders.
  20. Breaks down concentrate and resin boxes for recycling.
  21. Performs ERP testing based on instructions and process specifications.
  22. Identifies non-conformances and follows SMS procedures where applicable.
  23. Ensures packages sent to the lab for testing are properly identified.
  24. Places recycled materials in proper storage containers.
  25. Operates lift trucks as required and performs checks and maintenance such as battery changes.
  26. Adheres to all lockout/tagout procedures.
  27. Maintains equipment in safe and operable condition, using hand tools safely.
  28. Performs housekeeping in the work area.
  29. Enters maintenance data into CMMS EZ Entry.
  30. Complies with TPM System and Shaw Management System procedures.
  31. Participates in the Quality P.R.I.D.E. Process.
  32. Performs all duties using safe work methods and complies with safety policies.
  33. Works scheduled days, with overtime as needed.
Other Job Duties

Assists Turf Extrusion associates as needed.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, lift up to 50 pounds, carry, climb, and reach as required. Able to work in heated environments, work with hands overhead, and ascend/descend stairs/ladders.

Other Requirements

Ability to distinguish colors, complete Lift Truck certification, and possess good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Must work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.

Training Requirements

Attend orientation, safety, and quality training sessions, and complete training on CMMS EZ Entry.

Tools, Equipment, & Materials

Responsible for safety equipment, equipment, materials, and supplies needed for tasks.

Safety & Security

Maintain a safe work area, report unsafe conditions and accidents, wear protective gear, and comply with safety rules. Must wear toe-protective safety shoes and distinguish between colors.

Work Shift
