Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a turbomachinery aerodynamics engineer to join our turbomachinery team and advance power generation capability. You’ll model cycle performance for cutting-edge turbomachinery and influence system architecture as an early hire.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to input component performance, define instrumentation plans, and evaluate trades to reach the best business outcome. A strong thermodynamics background is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with at least 3 years in thermodynamic cycle analysis.
• Experience solving cycle performance with industry-standard tools (NPSS, Aspen, GateCycle, Flownex, EES).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a thermodynamic model of the power conversion system.
• Aggregate contributions from component owners into the system model.
• Collaborate with turbomachinery, secondary flow, and heat exchanger teams to input performance data.
• Define instrumentation plans to calibrate cycle models to test results.
• Evaluate system-level trades to optimize business outcomes.
