Job summary

Garrett Advancing Motion, based in Torrance, CA, seeks a Wheels and Aero Development Engineer to lead compressor and turbine aerodynamics for the CV portfolio. The role requires strong turbomachinery background, autonomy, and problem-solving to plan and execute technical projects.

The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, perform high-fidelity CFD, and use 3D CAD tools to design robust stages while aligning with performance, durability, and cost constraints.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficiency with turbomachinery design and aerodynamic simulation tools.
• Proficiency with CFD turbomachine simulation (Ansys).
• Experience with 3D design packages (CATIA, Onshape, SolidWorks), programming (MATLAB or python), and experimental turbomachinery testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, test and qualify the next generation of compressor and turbine aerodynamics for integration in the CV portfolio, using CFD/FEA and experimental tools.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to design robust compressor and turbine stages meeting performance, durability, packaging, noise and cost constraints.
• Support resolution of technical problems by providing aerodynamics and mechanical engineering support to other teams (applications/COEs).
• Collaborate with W&A organization to innovate and improve tools and processes.
