Qualifications

• Pursuing a Masters or PhD in Underground Construction or related geotechnical fields.
• Strong grounding in soil/rock mechanics and tunneling methods.
• Proficient in developing code and common coding languages.
• Experience with geotechnical analysis software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out empirical, analytical, and numerical analyses for tunnel design (initial support and final lining).
• Interpret results and organize design outputs into technical memos and reports.
• Characterize ground conditions for different tunneling methods from geotechnical data.
• Communicate design work via sketches showing support types, geometry, sequencing, and instrumentation.
• Work in multidisciplinary teams on large infrastructure projects.
