Job summary

Wood is seeking a skilled welder to select pipe types and sizes, lay out layouts, assemble and weld components with diverse techniques. The role involves precise fitting in multiple positions and following welding procedures and supervisor guidance.

You will handle arc welding processes such as GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, and SMAW as required, joining metal parts for piping systems and structural components. This is a hands-on fabrication position on site in Orlando.

Qualifications

• Proficient in selecting pipe type and size per specs.
• Knowledge of geometry and metal properties for welds.
• Experience with multiple welding techniques specified by procedure.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or related materials per specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly, and welding using geometry and material properties.
• May use GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, SMAW welding processes as required.
• Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components in various body positions.
• Joins metal components by welding and bolting in various orientations.
• Connects cables and sets welding parameters per procedure or supervisor.

Job description

• Selects type and size of pipe or other related materials and equipment according to specifications.
• Selects equipment and plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage and welding techniques.
• May be required to use Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc, or Shielded Metal Arc welding processes.
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together in various body positions.
• Bolts, clamps and welds together metal components of products such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes, using arc and arc gas welding equipment. May weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position. May tack weld assemblies together.
• Connects cable from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified by procedure or supervisor.
• Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun.
