Job summary

Motor Controls, Inc. in Dallas, TX, seeks a Laser Operator to run CO2 laser engraving and cutting systems, assemble parts, and assist with shop‑floor maintenance.

You will set up lenses, load programs, adjust parameters, and verify tolerances, following SOPs to ensure quality and safety. Preferred candidates have TRUMPF TRUSTORE 3030 experience and can read CAD drawings to create laser files, with attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously under supervision.

• Experience operating CO2 laser engraving and cutting machines.
• Ability to read CAD drawings and translate them into laser programs.
• Follows safety protocols and uses PPE.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC laser engraving and cutting machines and assist other operators.

• Create and edit laser cut files from CAD drawings using Corel Draw or Illustrator.
• Perform preventative maintenance and dimensional inspections.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Shop Manager, the Laser Operator will primarily operate and maintain CO2 engraving and cutting lasers along with related tools and equipment. The role also includes assembly, machine operation, and shop floor maintenance as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Performance review after 6 months.
• Operate CNC laser engraving and cutting machines and assist other machine operators as needed.
• Prefer experience with TRUMPF TRUSTORE 3030 machine.
• Set up lenses, load programs, adjust machine parameters, and fixtures for optimal equipment performance.
• Establish proper stop locations and adjust laser beam focal points.
• Create and edit laser cut files from CAD drawings using software such as Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator.
• Manage and maintain files to ensure consistent revision levels.
• Monitor chiller system and process gases, and report reordering levels.
• Demonstrate acute attention to detail and focus on assigned tasks.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on machines and equipment.
• Conduct dimensional inspections.
• Identify and report defective materials or irregular conditions.
• Execute typical machine shop operations to aid in the production and fabrication of plastic parts.
• Possess a fundamental understanding of machine functions to fulfill assigned tasks.
• Accept supervision and assistance in machine set‑up as needed.
• Work autonomously with minimal supervision following work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Adhere to proper safety protocols and wear appropriate safety equipment at all times.
• Contribute positively to maintaining a safe, organized, and tidy workplace environment.

Pay Rate

Starting at $25 per hour.
