Job summary

KMC Stampings is seeking a Laser Setup Operator in Port Washington, WI. The position supports the laser setup and operation of computer-controlled equipment to produce precision parts.

Training and development opportunities are provided within a long-standing, well-established metal fabricator. Under supervision, you will set up tools, align fixtures, inspect parts, and support quality control using precision instruments.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must have 6 months of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Strong reading, writing and math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, adjust and operate computer-controlled laser cutting machine
  • Mount, install, align and secure tools, attachments, fixtures and work pieces on machines
  • Setup and adjust gauges to properly position parts during equipment operation
  • Work from drawings, specifications, patterns or templates in any combination of metric or decimal dimensions to hold tolerances
  • Quality inspection using a variety of precision measuring instruments
  • Use scale, protractor, fixed angle and radii gauges

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Plant Supervisor, the Laser Setup /Operator operates the laser to perform a variety of standardized work where procedures are prescribed to produce parts in conformance with specification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setup, adjust and operate computer-controlled laser cutting machine
  • Mount, install, align and secure tools, attachments, fixtures and work pieces on machines
  • Setup and adjust gauges to properly position parts during equipment operation
  • Work from drawings, specifications, patterns or templates in any combination of metric or decimal dimensions to hold tolerances
  • Quality inspection using a variety of precision measuring instruments

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Prior experience with Trumpf TruLaser 3530 and Trumpf Trumatic 600L preferred
  • Requires 6 months of relevant manufacturing experience
  • Strong reading, writing and math skills
  • Regular attendance is required; punctual, dependable
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Interpersonal skills & friendly attitude

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently required talk or hear and may occasionally sit; regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
