Job summary

Johnson Controls in San Antonio, TX is hiring a Tube Fitter Apprentice. You will gain hands-on experience installing and routing tubing on units, following blueprints, and working under experienced professionals to develop practical skills in tubing installation and electrical systems.

Essential Job Functions

• Bend, form, and install all tubing on units.
• Perform tubing layout of units according to blueprints in shop packets.
• Identify and install valves and/or devices on units.
• Some knowledge of electrical systems required.

Marginal Functions

Perform housekeeping and other duties as required.

Physical/Mental Requirements

• Lifting 50 lbs. (occasionally), standing (constantly), walking (frequently), bending (frequently), climbing (frequently), crawling (occasionally), reaching (frequently), grasping (frequently), sitting (occasionally), connecting (frequently), pulling (frequently), reading prints (frequently), and exercising judgment (frequently).
• Must understand and follow safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Vision corrected to 20/20.
• Handling equipment (frequently).

Environmental Factors

Manufacturing environment – Exposure to noise, dirt, dust, cold/heat (indoor), and cold/heat (outdoor). Job hazards of working around heavy equipment and machinery.

Tools and Equipment Used

Tape measure, small hand tools, power tools, and drills.

Hiring Hourly Range

$16.00–$18.00 (Hourly rate determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
