Job summary

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is seeking a Convolutor Trainee to set up and operate the tube convolution testing machine for rotating metal workpieces, including tool, die, and machine parts. The role requires reading and following detailed procedures, with a focus on dimensional accuracy and PS 499 standards.

Shifts available: 1st shift 6:45AM–3:15PM and 2nd shift 3:15PM–1:45AM with a $1.00 differential. The candidate should be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Select and install brass seals, nylon dies, forming dies/mandrels and compression dies/mandrels.
• Load tubing onto forming and compression mandrels.
• Select, operate and adjust computer controlled programs through a touch screen interface to remove die and crimp marks.
• Trim hose using a pipe cutter.
• Inspect hose samples using a shadowgraph and wall thickness gauge for PS 499 compliance.
• Monitor hydraulic forming pressure while the machine runs.
• Measure hose with micrometer and calipers and adjust for dimensional accuracy.
• Compress formed hose to PS 499 templates and test with tooling.

Education
