Job summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The TTCC Instructor delivers high-quality instruction and training at Tarzana Treatment Centers College (TTCC). This role encompasses teaching assigned courses, developing instructional materials, and supporting students' academic progress in accordance with approved curricula and institutional policies.

The TTCC Instructor ensures that the course content remains pertinent to current and relevant behavioral and public health workforce education, including applicable theories, prevention strategies, service interventions, research, and treatment models.

The TTCC Instructor supports students' academic program by providing instruction-related guidance and feedback to assist with successful completion of coursework and assignments; in collaboration with Academic Supervisor and Academic Support Specialist when necessary. By fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, the TTCC Instructor enhances student success, retention and preparedness for entry-level roles in the behavioral healthcare and related workforce settings.

CATEGORIES OF DUTIES
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance and grades, ensuring compliance with institutional policies.
  • Submit finalized course syllabi to the Academic Supervisor prior to the commencement of the course term and introduce the syllabi to students before the course begins.
  • Schedule and hold in person and/or online office hours, as appropriate, to provide instructional support related to course content and academic requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with students and respond to student correspondence within 24 hours to foster effective instructional engagement.
  • Participate in professional development meetings to remain current with instructional methods, workforce standards and course delivery expectations.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Learning Management Course Page to facilitate organized and efficient course delivery.
  • Submit grades in the Gradebook within seven (7) days of assignment due dates to ensure timely feedback for students.
  • Conduct live course orientations and closeout sessions to provide live instructional context and reinforce course expectations for students.
  • Maintain fairness and integrity in the student evaluation process and participate, as needed, in the resolution of grade disputes or academic concerns, in coordination with the Academic Supervisor.
  • Identify and communicate instructional/academic concerns impacting student progress (e.g., academic performance, engagement, or academic integrity).
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrative staff to ensure cohesive and effective program delivery.
  • Support and contribute to the initiatives, efforts, policy and procedures of TTCC and Tarzana Treatment Centers ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals.

  • Deliver and continuously improve the curriculum, ensuring it aligns with state policies and accreditation standards for Peer Support Specialist Certification Programs.
  • Teach specialty courses that meet the 80-hour training requirements under the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Program.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities to enhance instructional effectiveness and remain current with workforce and industry trends relevant to peer support practice.
  • Deliver instruction in accordance with established programmatic policies, procedures and approved curricula to support institutional compliance regulatory requirements. 5. Provide specialized training opportunities for peer support specialists working with specific populations, including the unhoused, justice-involved individuals, and those in crisis services.

  • Integrate evidence-based, patient-centered practices into instruction, emphasizing ethical practice and professional competencies within the scope of SUD counselor education.
  • Incorporate educational content that addresses stigma reduction, cultural humility, and ethical engagement with individuals affected by SUD. Teach counselor ethics and professionalism, emphasizing ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and professional conduct expectations relevant to the field.

  • Provide instructional guidance and oversight to students during practicum and field experiences to ensure alignment with program requirements and related coursework.
  • Offer feedback to students on practicum-related performance, ethical considerations, and professional development within the scope of educational training.
  • Coordinate with Preceptors, Site Supervisors and Academic Supervisor to support practicum experiences that meet applicable program standards and state requirements.
  • Facilitate instructional workshops and training sessions to prepare

students for their practicum placements, and reinforce expectations related to applied learning.

5. Monitor student progress during practicum placements and communicate academic or instructional concerns to Academic Supervisor for review and follow up, as appropriate.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience or equivalent education, training, and professional experience in the subject area being taught, consistent with BPPE requirements for non‑degree institutions. Experience in student instruction, academic support, advising, or related roles within an educational institution preferred. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. Knowledge of instructional methods, student support resources and strategies to promote student success. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health or healthcare field.
