Qualifications

• A Masters or Doctorate degree in social work, counseling, psychology or social science.
• Licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Science as an LCSW, MFT, or LPCC.
• Minimum of one year experience in evaluating and/or treating persons suffering from substance abuse and/or dual diagnosis. Prior supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise counseling staff, including interns.
• Provide supervision to a team of substance use counselors in Juvenile Justice program.
• Deliver individual, couple/family, and group psychotherapy as needed.
• Crisis intervention and 5150 determinations as required.
• Complete documentation in the medical record and participate in program meetings.

Position Title: Clinical Supervisor

Department: Youth Services

Reports To: Program Director / Clinical Director

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for supervising substance use counselors in our Juvenile Justice program. Provide direct service as needed, including individual, couple/family or group psychotherapy, consultations, and crisis intervention. Implement the treatment philosophy of Tarzana Treatment Centers, Inc. (TTC). Reports to the Program Director for administrative activities, and to the Clinical Director for clinical matters, unless the immediate supervisor is a licensed mental health professional. Will provide clinical supervision and support to a team of substance use counselors who are providing SUD services with incarcerated youth at the Barry J. Nidorff Juvenile Detention Center and to SUD counselors working with Tarzana Treatment Center's youth outpatient program. Employee will operate out of both TTC's youth outpatient office in Tarzana and the Barry J Nidorff Juvenile Hall in Sylmar.

CATEGORIES OF DUTIES

Clinical Responsibilities shall include:

1. Conducting assessments of patients at the time of admission and re-assessments as required
2. Providing appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations based on a review of the patient’s history, signs and symptoms
3. Proper documentation in the medical record of services rendered
4. Individual, couple/family, and group psychotherapy, as needed
5. Crisis intervention services, including 5150 determinations
6. Participation in medical record reviews
7. Knowledge of current legal standards pertaining to professional practice, reporting requirements (i.e., suspected abuse; Tarasoff), professional boundaries and related issues.
8. Other duties as assigned by Director/Administration

Supervision/Training shall include:

1. Providing supervision to counseling staff as deemed appropriate, including interns.
2. Conducting performance evaluations of interns or staff, as required.
3. In-service training to staff and/or trainees on mental health topics, as required.

Administrative duties shall include:

1. Attending clinical and administrative committee meetings, as requested.
2. Maintaining proper documentation, as necessary, of clinical supervision
3. Participating in community events, presentations, meetings, and outreach on behalf of TTC
4. Additional functions as specifically requested by the Clinical Director, Program Director and/or Administration

EDUCATION

A Masters or Doctorate degree in social work, counseling, psychology or social science. Licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Science as an LCSW, MFT, or LPCC.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of one (1) year experience in evaluating and/or treating persons suffering from substance abuse and/or dual diagnosis. Prior supervisory experience.
