TTA Overview:

The IRC is engaged in a significant transition of the operations of its refugee travel loan collections program in partnership with IOM. IRC currently supports the repayment of over 6,000 loans with clients in over 40 states. One crucial part of the transition underway entails migration to a new digital service platform for collections. This migration combined with program policy requires some 1,500 clients to change their method of payment from a credit card to a debit card. The goal of this project to conduct direct outreach to all impacted clients to ensure a valid form of payment is on record to avoid any rejection of payments.

The Travel Loan Coordinator is a part of team under the supervision of the IOM Loan Officer. The TTA role will be responsible for providing focused, short-term support to the IRC and IRC’s Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) to support client outreach and updating of client records on payment methods. Specifically, s/he will be responsible for providing excellent customer support to the clients during this transition, providing advice and guidance on the steps they need to take, and for timely and accurate recording of information in the database.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to incoming client communications (transcribed voicemails and emails) with accurate and appropriate information
  • Communicate proactively with clients to provide reminders on the payment method required and to answer their question on the process
  • Provide responsible, ethical advice and guidance to clients to help them overcome any obstacles they may face in making the transitions to a debit card
  • Communicate with the clients in their preferred language whenever possible
  • Update client records with new data received continuously, completing all updates on same day as receipt of information
  • Attend team meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant related field or equivalent working experience
  • At least 2 years of relevant program experience such as financial coaching
  • Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred, and Arabic, Dari or Pashto also a plus
  • At least 2 years of experience working in various global work environments and contexts
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Flexible with hours, as the assignment may require occasional evening and weekend work
  • Preference for the remote assignment to be either in Pacific or Eastern Standard Time
