Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a leading non-sectarian non-profit organization providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services and advocacy for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. Staff and volunteers provide shelter, medical and public health assistance, education, training, and income-generating programs for refugees in nearly 30 countries. IRC also helps refugees resettle in the United States. IRC’s local offices across the US ensure that new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing. IRC staff work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency through English language classes, job training and placement services and participation in community activities. Committed to human dignity and self-reliance, the IRC serves as a symbol of hope and renewal for those who have taken flight in search of freedom.

The Finance Support Staff will lead in analyzing ledger entries to identify allowable expenses and work closely with the local IRC sites to reclassify these expenses to appropriate funding sources. Additionally, the staff will monitor net dollar movements between grant codes on a per-site basis. The staff will support field offices in reconciling accounts receivable and payable accounts. They will work closely with the Director of Budget and Finance, Resettlement and Deputy Regional Directors of Finance.

Major Responsibilities

  • Generate ledger entries from PowerBI and running pivot table.
  • Based on given criteria, identify allowable expenses for reclassification.
  • Create DynAd journal for cost adjustment.
  • Collaborate with local offices to have the journal approved and posted in local Integra.
  • Develop and monitor net dollar movement of reclassifications between different grant codes.
  • Support field offices reconcile accounts receivable and payable balances.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports on progress as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or economics; advanced degree and/or relevant certifications are preferred.
  • 2-3+ years of relevant experience in managing budgets and spending in refugee resettlement field preferred; d emonstrated in-depth knowledge of the US resettlement program.
  • Experience in financial management of federal awards, as they relate to CFR 200, would be a major plus point.
  • Advanced computer skills: Advanced knowledge of all MS Office applications (especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint); experience with cloud-based planning tools, PowerBi and ERP (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics) systems is desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and excellent presentation skills: the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and partners.
  • Multi-cultural sensitivity and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines; exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment; aptitude for ongoing learning and adjusting to frequent changes in processes.
