Job summary

Peraton is hiring a mid-Level Enterprise Applications Engineer in Chantilly, VA to support a DoD customer. You will design, implement, and sustain Jira and Confluence deployments in secure, air-gapped environments and drive automation using Ansible playbooks.

The role requires TS/SCI-eligible clearance, DoD 8140 familiarity, and strong Linux and database skills. You will collaborate with government customers and tenant stakeholders across the DoD to deliver scalable enterprise services,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or related field with 5+ years experience; or Master's with 3+ years
Top-Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI
DoD 8140 intermediate-level certs (Security+, CASP, CISSP, etc.)
Familiarity with Atlassian product lifecycle and upgrades
Design, build, secure, and accredit Jira/Confluence deployments in classified environments
Hands-on experience administering Jira/Confluence Data Center (not Cloud-only)
Experience migrating Jira/Confluence Server to Data Center
Experience building automation for enterprise services using Ansible playbooks
Administering RHEL/Linux in Production
PostgreSQL database administration including backups/restores
Understanding of Linux, networking, HTTPS, firewalls, SSO, SAML
LDAP integrations between Jira/Confluence and Active Directory

Responsibilities

Collaborate with partners to define requirements and validate customizations across the enterprise service portfolio
Build and operate automated Jira/Confluence environments using Ansible playbooks for configuration, deployment, and patching in cloud environments
Design and configure collaboration spaces and service components to support workflow automation
Automate routine administration to reduce manual effort and prevent configuration drift
Manage configuration changes and RBAC across Jira, Confluence, and other enterprise services
Stage and validate offline packages, updates, and repositories for deployment
Implement permission models, notification schemes, screens, and configuration changes for consistency
Evaluate and deploy add-ons and platform extensions across services
Administer and sustain RHEL: patch, break-fix, restore, and contribute to security hardening
Operate PostgreSQL: backups, patches, health monitoring, restores
Troubleshoot across application, OS, and database stack
