Job summary

IBM is seeking a hands-on Data Solutions Engineer to transform messy, incomplete data into clear, actionable insights in a mission-driven environment. You will work across data, systems, and analysis to deliver outcomes usable in real mission conditions.

Responsibilities include building data pipelines, applying models, and collaborating with junior team members to grow their skills while maintaining a high standard of quality and security in DC-area operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, with 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied data roles.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; ability to work directly with raw data.
• Experience building data pipelines and processing workflows across large datasets.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph and ability to work onsite in the DC metro area.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with raw and incomplete data, determining how to structure, process, and use it effectively.
• Develop and apply models and analytical methods to identify patterns, behaviors, and signals.
• Build and support data pipelines that enable consistent processing across datasets.
• Integrate internal and external models into working systems and adjust them as data changes.
• Operate effectively in secure environments with tradeoffs between security and utility.
