Job summary

Cova Strategies is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to join our security-conscious engineering team at Ft. Meade, MD. The role focuses on high-performance analytics, large-scale data processing, and real-time computing with emphasis on Java, C++, and Python.

Active TS-SCI with FS poly required. Onsite work five days a week in Fort Meade, MD. The position offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline; substitution rules apply.
• Must have 7+ years of combined programming experience in Java, C++, or Python within the last 10 years.
• 5+ years of experience in Windows or UNIX/Linux environments within the last 7 years.
• 3+ years of experience with OpenSource NoSQL (HBase, Accumulo, BigTable) in distributed, parallel computing.
• 1 year+ experience with Map/Reduce within the last 3 years.
• 1 year+ experience with Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) within the last 3 years.
• Recent experience with object-oriented design and analysis in at least one project.
• Within last 2 years, 6 months of development with cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Responsibilities

• Provide cloud software R&D, development, and engineering services including requirements analysis and integration.
• Design, implement, test new features for Apache/Accumulo to support large content repositories.
• Conduct Apache/Accumulo training sessions with hands-on configuration and exercises.
• Develop web-based UIs and RESTful services for content repositories.
• Develop algorithms for large-scale metadata analytics using parallel programming techniques.
