Carnegie Mellon University’s SEI is seeking a Software Development Technical Leader to head a development team in Arlington, VA, with a focus on C and C++. The role requires a TS/SCI clearance and strong expertise across full software lifecycles, architecture, and mentoring engineers.

You will lead projects from concept through deployment, drive design artifacts, and spearhead customer engagements while maintaining high standards for security and performance. Travel ~25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI DoD security clearance required, polygraph may be needed.
• Ten years of experience with BS, eight with MS, five with PhD in related fields.
• Proven ability to design and implement complex software architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development projects from conception to deployment focusing on C and C++.
• Mentor junior engineers in architecture, design, and construction.
• Create artifacts like data flow and interface definitions to ensure scalable, high-performance systems.
• Collaborate with senior customers and SEI leadership to address needs.
• Develop prototypes to explore new technologies and solutions.
• Guide customer engagements and ensure alignment with business goals.
• Utilize static analysis tools to improve code quality and security before release.
