Job summary

SMX is seeking a highly motivated Linux Systems Administrator to support DoD network environments at Patuxent River NAS, southern Maryland. The role involves deploying and maintaining hardware, VMs, and containers, plus ensuring security and disaster recovery.

Key requirements include Top Secret clearance, a relevant degree or equivalent experience, and DoD/8570 certifications. On-site support in Maryland with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience; or 9 years with an Associate's degree; or 11 years with a HS diploma.
• HS Diploma with 11 years of experience.
• Must have DoD guidance knowledge and relevant certifications (e.g., Security+).

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site Linux system administration for DoD networks and government hosting facilities.
• Deploy and maintain hardware, virtual machines, and containers.
• Perform routine maintenance and configuration on servers, workstations, and IT equipment.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware/software issues on servers and workstations.
• Maintain backups and disaster recovery plans.
• Manage user accounts and permissions.
• Deploy and maintain software applications.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and document configurations/actions.
• Maintain security posture and monitor events per DoD guidance.
• Participate in Agile project planning and provide networking support for on-prem infrastructure.
