Job description

Offit Kurman is seeking an experienced Estates & Trusts Paralegal to join our Columbia, MD office. This role provides critical support in estate and trust administration and estate planning matters.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing court filings and maintaining records for estate and trust administration
  • Managing deadlines for court and tax filings
  • Coordinating asset retitling (real estate, securities, etc.)
  • Communicating with financial institutions on account matters
  • Obtaining EINs from the IRS
  • Drafting correspondence and maintaining communication with Executors, Trustees, and beneficiaries
  • Working with accountants and tax professionals on filings
  • Drafting estate planning documents (POA, HCP, LW, trust letters); ILS familiarity a plus
  • Finalizing documents for execution
  • Assisting with trust funding, including deeds and co-op apartment transfers
  • Serving as a client liaison and providing regular updates

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of estate planning experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and professionalism
  • Work in the office daily for the first 90 days, 4 days a week, 1 day remote thereafter.
