Job summary

Columbia Bank in Denver, CO is seeking a Trust Operations Specialist to manage trust accounting transactions for trusts, estates, and IRAs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client instructions.

You will proactively contact clients by phone, archive documentation, and assist with institutional conversions under supervision. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of related experience preferred.
  • Prior financial services experience in transaction processing preferred.
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem prevention and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Post all transactions on the trust accounting system accurately.
  • Ensure transactions are processed according to client instructions.
  • Archive cash transaction documentation.
  • Proactively communicate with clients by phone on status of requests.
  • Remediate issues arising from client contact.
  • Assist in cashiering for institutional conversions and deconversions under supervision.
  • Develop understanding of complex distributions (ROTH conversions, re-registrations, plan distributions).
  • Follow bank policies, compliance regulations and training.
  • Coach or train others as subject matter expert.

About the Role:A Trust Operations Specialist is responsible for the accounting functions undertaken by the Trust department in its administration of trusts, agency accounts, estates, conservatorships, and IRAs.Post all transactions on the trust accounting system accurately and without directionEnsure all transactions are processed accurately and according to client instructions.Ensure all documentation related to the cash transaction is appropriately archived and noted.Proactively communicate with clients via phone to advise them of the status of their request.Quickly remediate any issues or concerns arising from the client contact.Ensure all procedures related to client contact are adhered toUnder the guidance of senior team members, assist in cashiering activities related to institutional client conversions and deconversions.Under the guidance of senior team members, develop an understanding of complex distribution activities (roth conversions, alternative asset re-registrations, plan distributions, and other complex processing activities).Other duties as assignedDemonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Columbia corporate culture in all actions and words.Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others to emulate.Embraces our vision to become “Business Bank of Choice”.May perform other duties as assigned.About You:High School Diploma or equivalent certificate required.1 year — One year of related experience (Pref)Prior financial services experience in a transaction processing environment.
