Job summary

Park Lawn Corporation is seeking a trusted, detail-oriented accounting professional to manage day-to-day trust accounting operations and regulatory compliance for our organization.

You will reconcile trust transactions to the general ledger, prepare monthly schedules, and support annual audits. This role involves collaboration with multiple locations to ensure accurate reporting and timely filings, with emphasis on accuracy, integrity, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in accounting or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Up to 2 years of accounting experience, with focus on financial and/or trust reporting.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Reconciles trust transactions to the general ledger and trust statements.
  • Reconciles accrual accounts and other general ledger accounts to schedules for endowment care trust and preneed.
  • Creates supporting schedules and journal entries monthly.
  • Reviews monthly endowment care trust and preneed transactions for regulatory compliance.
  • Supports audits and regulatory reporting for multiple jurisdictions.

Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for performing day to day operations and administration of duties associated with trust accounting and trust and regulatory compliance for the organization.

Essential Functions
  • Understands and follows policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and advises organization on trust
  • Reconciles transactions (endowment care, funeral, and merchandise and services trust) to general ledger and trust statements.
  • Reconciles accrual accounts and other accounts in the general ledger to supporting schedules for endowment care trust and preneed
  • Creates supporting schedules and journal entries for monthly
  • Reviews of monthly endowment care trust and preneed trust transactions for regulatory
  • Executes trust process on a day-to-day basis, including processing of withdrawals, information and funds transfer to trustee, proper upload/allocation of earnings to customer accounts and monitoring of
  • Maintains calendar of deadlines and monitor and notify as due dates
  • Maintains summary schedules of transactions and other regular
  • Collaborates with individual business locations to ensure trust reporting is being filed

  • Provides support as necessary for annual financial audits and regulatory
  • Provides support as necessary for documentation and completion of various trust tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure
  • Four-year degree in, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Up to 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial and/or trust reporting preferred.
  • Valid state issued driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • High degree of overall computer proficiency.
  • High degree of proficiency in local and virtual data management tools (Internet, Dropbox, Microsoft file management structure).
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective and professional communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal skills and the ability to resolve and respond to issues in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and working environment through organization, willingness to learn, and communication.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and exercise good judgment.
  • Cemetery and funeral Industry experience strongly desired.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Employees in this role are regularly required to climb, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and frequently lift to 25 pounds.
  • Performance of this position’s duties also requires power reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • This position’s duties require routine exposure to chemicals and/or blood borne pathogens. Exposure risk is considered: Low
  • Employees must be able to drive a company vehicle and maintain a good driving record and must be insurable under company vehicle insurance.
Travel
  • This position may require up to 15 percent out of area and overnight travel.
  • Travel is primarily local occurring during the business day only.
