Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a Truss Plant Operations Manager to oversee the professional operation of a truss plant in a fast-paced environment. The role requires meeting performance objectives, managing inventory and staff, and coordinating with field and internal teams to drive sales and operational excellence.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience in building materials, truss manufacturing, and contractor relations, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in the building materials industry.
• Familiar with floor/roof truss manufacturing and pricing for custom, production, and multi-family projects.
• Familiar with delivery and fleet operations.
• Experience dealing with contractors.
• Experience analyzing inventory activity.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities.
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities.
• Outgoing personality and ability to build relationships with customers.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Manages and implements the overall operations of the truss plant, including policies and procedures implementation.
• Oversees inventory and plant staff; conducts weekly operational meetings and reports to General Manager on sales and operations.
• Directs all plant staff activities including hiring, training, discipline, schedules and performance management.
• Leads inside sales coordination with the General Manager to monitor sales and profit goals and ensure targets are met.
• Promotes ongoing training and development, safety compliance, and process improvements.
