Job summary

Builders FirstSource is seeking a skilled technician to originate truss design and placement drawings from orders or simple plans. You will interpret blueprints and ensure designs meet project requirements while aligning with company standards.

The role involves estimating, taking off quantities, and revising layouts for similar projects, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with applicable codes. Experience with wood products and technical documentation is valued.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints and understand customer requirements.
• Knowledge of material properties and structural components.
• Familiarity with codes and design practices for safe, compliant installations.

Responsibilities

• Process roof truss and panel orders; perform estimating and takeoffs from blueprints and customer requirements.
• Revise layout and design drawings for similar projects and for structural wood products.
• Ensure stability, deflection and load carries meet or exceed applicable codes.
• Write technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties.
