Job summary

JM Hunter Group is seeking an experienced Remote Truss Designer to join a growing building components manufacturer. You will design roof and floor truss systems using MiTek software for commercial, multifamily, and residential projects, while collaborating with sales, engineering, and production teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of truss design experience, strong knowledge of MiTek Structure or Sapphire, and a solid understanding of wood truss engineering.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of truss design experience (commercial and multifamily preferred).
• Proficiency using MiTek Structure or MiTek Sapphire.
• Strong understanding of wood truss engineering principles and structural load paths.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural construction documents.
• Experience designing roof and floor truss systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects in a remote work environment.
• Experience with large-scale commercial or multifamily projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design roof and floor truss systems using MiTek software.
• Produce accurate, code-compliant truss placement plans and engineered design packages.
• Focus on commercial and multifamily projects while supporting residential and production builders.
• Review architectural and structural plans to develop practical, cost-efficient truss solutions.
• Coordinate with sales, engineers, project managers, and customers throughout the design process.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability while maintaining structural integrity and customer requirements.
• Respond to revisions and RFIs in a timely manner.
• Ensure projects are completed on schedule with high quality and accuracy.
• Stay current with building codes, industry standards, and engineering best practices.

We are seeking an experienced Remote Truss Designer to join a well-established and growing building components manufacturer. What You'll Do

• Design roof and floor truss systems using MiTek software.
• Produce accurate, code-compliant truss placement plans and engineered design packages.
• Focus primarily on commercial and multifamily projects, while also supporting custom residential and production home builders.
• Review architectural and structural plans to develop practical, cost-effective truss solutions.
• Coordinate with sales representatives, engineers, project managers, and customers throughout the design process.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability while maintaining structural integrity and customer requirements.
• Respond to design revisions and RFIs in a timely manner.
• Ensure projects are completed on schedule while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.
• Stay current with building codes, industry standards, and engineering best practices.

• Familiarity with wall panels or engineered wood products is a plus.
