Job summary

Ridout Lumber and Meek’s is seeking a Truss Assembler II to join our Missouri operations. You will lay out, assemble, and band truss components, load finished materials, and read shop drawings to guide your work. You will also monitor inventory, ensure safety, and support other areas as needed.

As a Level II assembler, you’ll work on advanced tasks, train new associates, and contribute to a safe, organized production environment, with strong teamwork and customer relations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
  • Read shop drawings to identify sizes and patterns.
  • Must read a tape measure and operate basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out truss supplies and stock components for setup.
  • Assemble components under line leaders' direction.
  • Load and band finished materials on carts or pallets.
  • Receive incoming products and materials.
  • Read shop drawings to identify plate sizes and patterns.
  • Understand stacking order from drawings when required.
  • Monitor workflow and assist other areas as needed.
  • Operate equipment necessary for the assembly process.
  • Follow safety rules and maintain a safe environment.
  • Keep bays and staging areas clean and organized.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain teamwork.
  • Monitor inventory as directed by location management.
  • Work in advanced truss assembly and train new associates.

A Brief Overview

The Truss Assembler II is responsible for assembling truss components. This person will stock lumber, plates and other work-related materials and supplies. Will also band/stack finished products.

What You Will Do
  • Lay out truss supplies and materials on carts or floor and stock plates for component set-up.
  • Assemble components under the direction of the line leaders.
  • Load and band finished materials on carts/pallets inside and/or outside.
  • Receive incoming products, commodities, and materials.
  • Read shop drawings to identify plate sizes, plate gauges, girder truss nailing and bolt patterns.
  • Read shop drawings to understand stacking order when required.
  • Monitor production workflow process assisting other areas as needed.
  • Operate all equipment necessary to the assembly process.
  • Adhere to established safety rules and regulations and follows all safety procedures; maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized work environment which may include emptying trash receptacles and keeping all bays/staging areas clean and organized.
  • Provide excellent customer service and participate in a positive work environment.
  • Monitor inventory as required by location management.
  • Retain an awareness of the work environment critical to the task at hand to produce error free and damage free results.
  • As Level II, work in advanced truss assembly process and train new associates.

Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of industry experience / truss assembly required.
Skills And Abilities
  • Must be able to read a tape measure and use a hammer.
  • Ability to learn to operate equipment such as routers, saws, presses, and staple guns.
  • Ability to operate a crane.
  • Excellent teamwork & customer relationships.
