Job summary

The Boston School of Music Arts is seeking a qualified Trumpet Instructor to join our in-school program starting in August. Experience with another instrument (Piano or brasswinds) is preferred. You will work with students aged 9 and up on trumpet, and younger piano students as well.

Ideal candidates are compassionate, creative, organized, and enjoy teaching children. We handle administration, payments, and marketing, offering steady work and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Music Performance or Music Education or related field.
• Solid to advanced Trumpet skills.
• Ability to create a warm, engaging learning experience one-on-one and with ensembles.
• Must pass background test showing suitability to teach children.
• Can work independently and follow directions when needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• 2+ years' experience teaching music to ages 5 to adult.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1-on-1 lessons across genres including Classical, Pop, Rock, Jazz, R&B, Soul.
• Prepare students for community performances, auditions, or ensemble performances.
• Be trained in our lessons program.
• Be well-organized, keeping great notes on students.
• Teach small groups and ensembles; group pay rate may be higher.

The ideal candidate is compassionate, creative, and has a passion for teaching students ages 9 and up on Trumpet, and 5 and up on Piano, and can help to provide a great musical foundation. This is an in-school (not in-home or online-only) position.

The successful candidate will be a W2 employee, not an independent contractor.
