Job summary

Evans Transportation is seeking a senior leader to run the carrier procurement team in the Chattanooga office. You will hire, develop, and lead a high-performing group, drive pricing discipline, and ensure clean handoffs to Visibility and other partners.

This role combines people leadership with operational excellence in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in truckload brokerage or 3PL, experience with a TMS, and comfort with AI-enabled automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in truckload brokerage, 3PL, or transportation operations, with at least 2 years leading people.
• Experience working inside a TMS and managing a team’s work from operational queues/boards.
• Comfortable with AI, automation, and technology, and understands that technology should reduce routine manual work.

Responsibilities

• Own carrier procurement in the Chattanooga office, including headcount and performance.
• Provide day-to-day leadership for the full office and elevate issues.
• Own hiring for carrier procurement and conduct interviews with the recruiting team.
• Onboard and ramp new hires to reach productivity on a defined timeline.
• Coach pricing logic, negotiation, carrier vetting, and escalation judgment.
• Set and manage KPIs, scorecards, and real deal examples.
• Address underperformance early and document it.
• Maintain work ethic standards and on-floor coverage.
• Grow the truckload business through carrier network development.
• Collaborate with account management, Sales, Yield, and Visibility.
• Identify recurring failures and address root causes.
• Evaluate automation and technology to increase freight without adding headcount.
