Wegman Partners in Dallas seeks an Associate Attorney focusing on trucking and transportation insurance defense litigation. You will manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution with responsibilities in research, discovery, depositions, motions, and trial preparation.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of relevant litigation experience, strong writing and advocacy skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with partners and clients.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school is required.
• Active license to practice law in Texas is required.
• Bar admissions in Oklahoma and/or Arkansas are a plus.

Responsabilités

• Manage trucking and transportation insurance defense matters from initial file review through resolution.
• Analyze claims, causes of action, liability issues, and potential exposure to develop effective litigation strategies.
• Conduct extensive legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, and appellate briefs as needed.
• Draft and respond to written discovery, prepare witnesses, and take and defend depositions.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Identify, retain, and collaborate with expert witnesses in support of litigation strategy.
• Assist with trial preparation, develop case strategies, and participate in trial proceedings.
• Maintain consistent communication with clients, partners, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Manage multiple matters and deadlines with organization and independence.
• Meet the firm’s annual billable-hour requirement of 1,950 hours.
