  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure safety/compliance standards are met.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
  • Maintain detailed service records and document repairs/inspections.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools to identify issues and select appropriate solutions.
  • Work efficiently while upholding safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate maintenance needs and timelines with drivers and fleet managers.

Job Summary

The Truck Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining semi-trucks to ensure safe and reliable operations. This role requires mechanical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on semi-trucks.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components.
  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are a plus
  • Maintain detailed service records and document all repairs and inspections.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure work is completed efficiently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate with drivers and fleet managers regarding maintenance needs and repair timelines.
  • Adhere to company policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental safety standards.

Qualifications: JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs. Frequent bending, stooping, crawling, and working in confined spaces. Capable of standing for long periods and working in varied weather conditions.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs occasionally. Frequent handling of tools, equipment, and parts of varying sizes and weights.
  • Work Hours: Must be available for various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Overtime may be required based on operational demands.
  • Equipment Requirements: Experience using diagnostic tools and hand tools for truck and trailer repairs. Knowledge of welding, and electrical systems. Knowledge of hydraulics is a plus but not required.
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or service technician preferred. ASE Certification or equivalent is a plus. CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred but not required. Must have a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • Skills: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Effective communication skills with team members and management.
  • Language and Reasoning Skills: Ability to read and interpret service manuals, technical documents, and safety regulations. Strong reasoning skills to diagnose mechanical issues and implement appropriate repairs.
  • Work Environment: Work Environment is indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to loud noises, grease, dirt, and hazardous materials. Working around moving trucks and trailers.
  • Vision/Hearing/Speaking: Must have adequate vision to read gauges, schematics, and service manuals. Good hearing for diagnosing engine sounds and safety communications. Clear speech to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
