Job summary

Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) in Sanborn, IA is seeking a Maintenance Craft Worker to perform repairs on company vehicles and equipment, including brakes, engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, a high school diploma, and at least 2 years of related experience. You will conduct preventative maintenance, maintenance logs, daily inspections, and respond to road emergencies to keep the fleet safe and reliable.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement.

  • 1 year experience operating tractor trailer hauling liquid.
  • Must possess a valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.

  • Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs on company owned vehicles and equipment, including brakes, engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, ignitions, air and exhaust systems and axle assemblies.
  • Diagnose failures of equipment, disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts as needed by locating sources of problems, observing mechanical devices in operation and listening for problems while using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Ensures efficient operation of transportation equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements such as changing oil, checking batteries, lubricating equipment, inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other vital parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
  • Conducts daily walk-around inspections of fleet to ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Assists with required testing, certification and documentation on all equipment.
  • Performs required fabrication on equipment.
  • Provides quick response to work orders and road emergencies to repair vehicles as necessary while operating equipment safely and timely from origin to destination.

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts daily walk-around inspections of fleet to ensure equipment is in good working order.

  • Following all AMPI GMP’s and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory food safety, quality and sanitation requirements; reporting any nonconformity.
  • Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures and company guidelines in order to maintain regulatory compliance.

  • Filling out and submitting all required documents in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responding to road emergencies to repair vehicles as necessary.
