Job summary

Wayne Farms LLC is seeking a skilled maintenance mechanic for a second shift (12p–11p) to service tractors, trailers, and related equipment at our facility. You will perform preventative maintenance, assist mechanics, and ensure compliance with safety and DOT regulations while recording work orders accurately.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, basic mechanical knowledge, ability to work unsupervised, and willingness to work nights, weekends and extended hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• NOCTI Vehicle Mechanic Level 2 certification preferred.
• CDL license preferred.
• Basic mechanical knowledge required.
• Must supply own tools.
• Basic computer skills.
• Working knowledge of DOT rules regarding DOT equipment.
• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
• Sound work ethic and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, perform maintenance, including preventive maintenance, on tractors, trailers, light trucks, cars, and loaders.
• Grease and service vehicles; check fluids, lights, and brakes.
• Assist other mechanics; pick up parts; replace mud flaps.
• Complete mandatory paperwork in a timely manner.
• Keep shop clean and organized.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

This is a 2nd shift position. Schedule is 12p - 11p, normally M-F, with some Saturday work required.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Primarily responsible for performing maintenance, includingpreventative maintenance, service of equipment and assisting mechanics as required. Work in compliance with all company policies, Wayne Farms Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILIES AND TASKS:

• Under general supervision, perform maintenance, includingpreventive maintenance, on all company tractors and trailers, light pick-up trucks, cars, and loaders, including but not limited to:
  • Servicing all vehicles, including changing oil and filters (oil, fuel, air, water, power steering, transmission, hydraulic, etc…); air fittings
  • Greasing tractors, trailers, loaders, pick-up trucks, cars, etc.
  • Checking and maintaining proper fluid levels, proper functioning of all lights and brakes, etc.
• Help other mechanics as needed; pick up parts; replace mud flaps, etc.
• Correctly complete mandatory computer entries and/orpaperwork in a timely manner
• Keep work area and truck shop clean including sweeping, mopping, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• NOCTI Vehicle Mechanic test Level 2 certified preferred
• CDL License preferred

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Must supply own tools
• Basic computer skills
• Working knowledge of DOT rules regarding DOT equipment
• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours
• Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work in hot, wet and/or cold environment
• Ability to stand up to 8 hours
• Exposure to wet and dusty environment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to ascend andwork from ladder
