Job summary

Peterson Trucks is seeking a Part-Time, on-call Truck Porter at our San Leandro, CA location. The role involves assisting with lot activity, transporting tractors, trucks, and trailers, and supporting staff with organization and movement of vehicles.

Schedule is limited to up to 20 hours per week, 2-3 days. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, at least two years of related experience in a heavy industrial environment, and a Class A or B license with a clean DMV record.

Responsibilities

• Transport up to heavy trucks and trailers and help set up the lot.
• Ensure adequate fuel levels in trucks for test drives and refuel if necessary.
• Move trucks around the yard and assist staff with organization and placement.
• Issue key tags with stock numbers on new truck deliveries and perform related shop/yard duties.
• Maintain punctual and predictable attendance and operate company vehicles as needed.

Job Description

Peterson Trucks has a need for a Truck Porter at our San Leandro, CA location. This is a Part-Time, On-Call position. Expected schedule is to be no more than 20 hours, 2-3 days per week.

Summary

The Truck Porter serves to assist with lot activity and transport and assists the truck dealership with other duties if needed.

Essential Job Functions

• Transport up to Class 8 tractors, trucks, and trailers.
• Setting up the lot, and/or assisting the staff to organize and move trucks around.
• Ensuring that there are adequate fuel levels in trucks for test drives, refueling if necessary.
• Issuing key tags with stock numbers on new truck deliveries.
• Drive trucks around as directed to ensure adequate space and placement of trucks.
• Drive trucks to service shops, if necessary.
• Pick up and/or deliver trucks if directed.
• Secure vehicles at the end of the business day.
• Wash vehicle and trailer washing, detailing and cleaning.
• Perform miscellaneous clean-up of shop and yard.
• Perform various assigned shop and parts duties.
• Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
• Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
  

Based on location the following duties may or may not apply

• Responsible to plug in computer to truck to download fault codes; provide information to Inside Sales Representative (ISR).
• Perform Rental check-in to assess any damage: walk around truck and note damage.
• Provide report to office staff in order to address issues with customer.
  

Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and a minimum of two years of related experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENCENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Possess valid Class A (preferred) or Class B driver's license with required endorsements and current Medical Certificate. Must possess a clean DMV driving record.

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $33.90 per hour. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.
