Job summary

Tyson Foods in Springdale, AR seeks a Truck Mechanic for D shift. The role involves preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing truck engines and systems, and performing basic welding. Tools will be provided or owned by you by 90 days. Prior Tyson experience is advantageous, with opportunities for growth and ME02 progression within a year.

Qualifications

• Must pass MVR check: 18+, valid license, no DUI/DWI in last 12 months

• Prior Tyson team members cannot have worked 3 times or more for Tyson Foods

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on trucks and diagnose mechanical or electrical failures
• Diagnose and repair truck engines and systems using diagnostic programs
• Perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks as needed
• Read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics; perform basic math and document work orders
• Use computers to document information and complete daily work orders
• Possibly perform service calls at remote locations with a valid driver’s license
• Advance to ME02 within 12 months with official sign-off by managers and senior technicians

Truck Mechanic D shift (Springdale, L.H. Garage)

Responsibilities:

• Truck preventive maintenance technicians will work cross-functionally across multiple areas of the garage, responsibilities include but are not limited to performing routine preventive maintenance repairs on trucks, performing mechanical or electrical failures.

• Ability to diagnose and repair our truck engine and systems with our diagnostic programs. Abilities to perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks.

• Ability to safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment and the ability to effectively communicate with all transportation personnel including managers, drivers, and clerks.

• Must be able to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics. Along with basic math skills is necessary to perform these tasks at a satisfactory level.

• Basic computer skills will be necessary to document information, process daily work orders, and complete required documentation.

• Truck tech may be required to perform service calls on equipment at remote locations; a current valid driver’s license is required.

• Upon hire, team members will be required to advance to ME02 within 12 months of hire date. (If not obtained then team members will be considered unable to meet job requirements)

  • Show proficiency in standard preventive maintenance (PM1’s, PM2’s for trucks or trailers depending on mechanic classification)

  • Brake Inspector Certification

  • Wheel end class/Certification

  • Basic Electrical

  • Identify fault codes

  • Team members will be required to show proficiency with all tasks above before advancement. This will be graded by completing the preventive maintenance process and then work reviewed by Shop Manager, Shop Supervisor, Lead, and two senior technicians) Shop Manager/Supervisor will give official sign off.

**Must be able and willing to provide their own tools by the end of 90-day probation period**
