Job summary

Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Los Angeles area is seeking a dedicated driver helper to assist truck drivers with inspections, loading, and safety procedures. You will interact with donors and the public, maintain equipment, and support safe, efficient daily operations.

This full-time role emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and a strong safety ethic; physical tasks include lifting up to 50 lbs, assisting with loading/unloading, and complying with all safety directives.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates strong customer service mindset and ability to interact with donors.
• Works effectively in a team and takes direction from drivers and dispatchers.
• Maintains professional appearance and conduct at all times.
• Upholds integrity and safety policies while performing duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist driver to inspect vehicle prior to leaving the facility.
• Assist driver with radio communication while vehicle is in motion.
• Provide assistance while driver maneuvers truck to park, back up, or other at all times.
• Remain focused and alert to street signs, pedestrians, and road hazards.
• Report property damage and complete accident reports as instructed by dispatcher.
• Follow directives of driver, dispatcher and management.
• Load, secure and unload donated goods safely.
• Work cooperatively with driver to prevent injuries.
• Verify and complete issued pickup tickets.
• Practice safe handling and report injuries immediately.
• Present a friendly attitude to donors and the public.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
