The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Truck Helper in Florence, AL.

Job Summary:

Assists in picking up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading at the warehouse. Assists the Truck Driver in navigation. Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of donations en route. Maintains the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the assigned geographic area.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to read and follow maps or handwritten directions.
• Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving lifting and carrying heavy objects.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.

Education and Experience:

No formal education required. Six months experience lifting and hauling heavy items such as appliances and furniture, or any equivalent training and experience providing the necessary skills and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

None required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Daily riding in a vehicle with exposure to outdoor weather conditions such as rain, cold, snow, and heat. Possible discomforts from noise, dust, dirt, and other environmental factors.
