Job summary

Houston City College is seeking an instructor for the Adjunct pool to teach Truck Driving (CE) in Houston. You will deliver courses aligned with college standards and support student learning through diverse instructional methods.

The role includes academic advising, professional development participation, and contributing to institutional and community service efforts. Applicants must be prepared to teach day, evening, or weekend sessions at multiple sites around the city and to use technology

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
• Minimum 36 months of work experience in the field.
• Ability to teach day, evening, or weekend classes at multiple sites around the city.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to use various software.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a diverse population.
• Good organizational and planning skills.
• Sensitivity to students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment.
• Self-discipline and ability to manage others.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses using varied methodologies and deliver engaging instruction.
• Develop and use a syllabus for each course and submit to department chair.
• Plan and use diverse teaching materials to meet course objectives.
• Evaluate students and provide progress feedback in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate student records and submit related reports.
• Teach at various times and locations to meet institutional needs.
• Utilize technology in the classroom and explore new instructional methods.
• Provide academic advising and support to students.
• Engage in professional development activities.
• Participate in college and community service activities and committees.
