Position Summary: Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute (CCCTI), in partnership with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, is seeking a part-time instructor for our Truck Driver Training Program.

Required Education/Experience: Five years of experience driving a tractor trailer truck.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills: Experience in teaching and/or counseling at a post-secondary level.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate work of staff, including supervising, training, and evaluating.
  • Delegating authority and responsibility.
  • Maintaining and updating records and preparing reports.
  • Clear communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Establishing cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to make observations, operate equipment, and communicate effectively.

Knowledge of safe work practices, adult learning techniques, current trends, laws, program development, supervision, and computer software is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Instruct 16-24 contact hours preparing students to drive tractor-trailers, including course planning, grading, and assessment.
  2. Teach driving procedures, safety, laws, map reading, logs, and vehicle maintenance; prepare students for CDL tests.
  3. Supervise range training and highway operation.
  4. Travel to off-campus sites as needed for instructional partnerships.
  5. Provide course objectives, manage class schedules, and evaluate student performance.
  6. Participate in program evaluation and development, including recruiting and community outreach.
  7. Attend meetings, seminars, and stay updated on industry developments.
  8. Maintain office hours, advise students, and assist with academic planning.
  9. Engage in professional development and training.
