Job summary

Amentum is seeking a truck driver in Utah to operate vehicles under 3,000 lbs and transport goods, including potential HAZMAT, across government facilities. You will inspect vehicles, secure loads, and assist with loading/unloading while following dispatcher directions.

Responsibilities

• Secure loads for safe arrival at destination.
• Report and receive direction via radio or cellular.
• Assist loading/unloading of material transported.
• Perform daily preventive maintenance on truck.

Job description

Purpose and Scope:

Drives gas or diesel powered trucks. Receive daily work assignments from Dispatcher.

Essential Responsibilities:

• 1. Drive trucks less than 3000 lbs. to destination for pick-up and delivery based on instructions or directions received and by using maps.
• 2. Drive vehicles both on and off of government installations and in light to heavy traffic conditions.
• 3. Transport HAZMAT as necessary in performance of depot mission.
• 4. Inspect truck for defects before and after trips.
• 5. Monitor vehicle during operation and reports maintenance/repair requirements to Dispatcher.
• 6. Secures loads being transported to ensure safe and undamaged arrival at destination.
• 7. Report and receives direction via radio or cellular phone.
• 8. Assist in loading and unloading of material transported.
• 9. Perform daily preventive maintenance adjustments to truck.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

High school diploma or GED required and minimum six months general experience. Minimum six months specific experience which will demonstrate knowledge required to perform requirements of position. May substitute experience for education at the rate of one year of specific experience for one year of high school. Must have valid operators license to use any equipment for which a current license is not held within 30 days of selection. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Must meet all Federal and State requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
