Job summary

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The truck driver is responsible for safely and efficiently driving, loading, transporting, and unloading fuel from the terminal to the customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs daily vehicle pre-trip safety inspection according to company guidelines.
  • Maintains truck maintenance, fluid, and fuel levels as needed and assist maintenance with repairs as needed.
  • Reports any vehicle mechanical problems on a timely basis to dispatch.
  • Follows written and oral instruction from dispatch.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment regarding work site access, unloading/operation to and from the worksite.
  • Ensures materials loaded into tanker are the correct quantity and product.
  • Maintain good customer relations by acting in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Continuously follow all safety rules and work in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Completes required paperwork timely and accurately
  • Maintains communication with the dispatch on duty via telephone to advise of questions, problems, or issues on a timely basis.
  • Maintains a neat and professional personal appearance.
  • Keeps the interior and exterior of the truck clean and free of clutter to include regularly removing road film.
  • Follows established company policies and guidelines for safety, quality, and service.
  • Wears personal protective equipment as needed or required.
  • Plans and completes an efficient delivery and pick up route for the day.
  • Delivers fuel to correct addresses, obtaining signatures and proof of receipt when necessary.
  • Maintains basic records of truck mileage and deliveries made.
  • Ensures that delivery vehicle receives basic service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor.
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess two years’ verifiable Class A with Hazmat & Tanker experience.
  • Class A CDL license with Hazmat & Tanker Endorsement.
  • Experience in fuel hauling and delivery.
  • Must have a clean and safe driving record.
  • Maintain an active DOT qualification.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and can work without direct supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude that fosters effective relationships.
  • Ability to drive safely.
  • Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to work up to 14 hours, with a maximum driving time per day of 11 hours and able to work according to DOT Hours of Service Regulations.
  • Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 100lbs. of weight frequently.
  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders.
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull object.
  • Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
  • Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
