GENERAL SUMMARY:
Operates trucks andvarietyof construction equipmentutilizedin construction,maintenanceand repair activities; performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of roads, bridges, drainagesystemsand equipment. Works under the close supervision of a District or Labor Foreman.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Operates trucks ofvarious sizesand weights in the loading,haulingand unloading of various equipment,materialsand supplies. Operatestrucks and construction or power equipment, such as mechanized broom, dump truck, pickup truck, utility trailer, tractors, highwaymowersand loaders. Operateswinter maintenance equipment such as material spreaders, underbody scrapers andfront endplows. Operatesjackhammers, lawn mowers, chainsaws, and other small equipment and tools tomaintainroads and bridges. Works with and assists the crew in digging ditches;pot holepatching; flagging; seal patching; digging post holes; cutting and trimming trees; grading and loading material; lifting and moving material, tools and equipment; winter maintenance; guardrail installation; and any other related work using heavy equipment and other small equipment and tools. Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment. Performs all duties in conformance toappropriate safetyand security standards. Performs some orallof the duties of other maintenance workers, asrequiredor assigned. Operates other equipment as assigned.
