Job description

Position Overview

Title: Truck Driver II

Reports to: [Insert Supervisor Title]

Direct Reports: [Insert if applicable]

Overview

This position is responsible for operating company trucks such as lugger trucks, roll-off trucks, and tractor trailers. The role involves switching trailers or containers at customer locations and performing other driving assignments as directed by Dispatch. The driver is expected to actively participate in and demonstrate behaviors aligned with the company's values. A valid driver’s license is required.

Accountabilities

• Review daily schedule, meet or exceed daily run expectations, and communicate any exceptions to the dispatcher.
• Understand department efficiency goals and set personal targets accordingly. Provide excellent customer service, resolve customer issues, and maintain strong customer relations.
• Complete shipping documentation, weigh loads, and conduct initial material inspections.
• Maintain necessary paperwork including scale tickets, shippers, logbooks, and trip reports.
• Prepare and submit reports related to accidents, damages, and traffic violations.
• Perform daily DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Participate in random drug and alcohol testing as required.
• Inspect and secure loads, including tarping when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization inside the truck.
• Input trip data into the truck computer and operate communication devices like Nextel phones.
• Model behaviors consistent with company values.
• Be cross-trained to operate different types of trucks.
• Use good judgment to ensure a safe working environment, adhere to posted speed limits, and prevent flat tires.
• Complete scrap material ID sheets and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience driving similar vehicles (Truck Driver II).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs when chaining loads.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
• Competence in maintaining logbooks.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
