Job description

**Position Summary:**

Penske Truck Leasing is seeking highly motivated and qualified applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role involves vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and customers. The position primarily involves moving box trucks up to 26 feet, with CDL Class A drivers also handling tractors and trailers. Additionally, the role may include assisting the service department in delivering parts and equipment.

This is a casual, on-call, part-time truck driving position ideal for licensed CDL Class B or Class A drivers seeking supplemental income, with flexible hours ranging from 0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs.

**Pay:** Class A - $18.00/hour; Class B - $17.00/hour; Class C - $16.00/hour

**Major Responsibilities:**

1. Follow safety procedures while driving trucks to designated locations.
2. Check vehicles for mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment issues; report any problems.
3. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payments when required.
4. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages.
5. Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

**Qualifications:**

• Minimum 2 years of driving experience.
• Clean DMV motor vehicle record for 2 years.
• CDL Class B license required; Class A preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Independent work ethic, customer service skills, organizational skills, positive attitude.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Compliance with DOT regulations, including maintaining a driver qualification file, DOT physical, MVR checks, and drug screening.
• Willingness to travel, work the required schedule, and pass background and drug screenings.

This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation and requires alertness and a commitment to safety. Employees must prioritize safety for themselves and others.

**Physical Requirements:**

• Ability to see, hear, and perform physical tasks such as frequent movement, standing, walking, sitting, and handling objects.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Legal operation of a motor vehicle and safe entry/exit are mandatory.
