Truck Driver - Hiker/Vehicle Transporter/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role involves vehicle delivery and return to Penske locations and customers. It primarily involves moving box trucks up to 26’ and, for CDL Class A license holders, includes tractors and trailers. The position may also assist the service department with parts and equipment delivery.

This is a casual/on-call part-time position suitable for licensed CDL Class B or A drivers seeking supplemental income, working 0 to 25 hours weekly based on business needs.

Major Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures while driving trucks to destinations.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment issues and report problems.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for deliveries and collect payments if applicable.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Compensation

Class A - $19.00/hour
Class B - $18.00/hour

This role is part-time and not eligible for benefits but offers PTO accruals and minor benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of driving experience.
• Clean DMV motor vehicle record for 2 years.
• CDL Class B license required; Class A preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Customer service, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• Regular, predictable attendance.
• Compliance with DOT regulations, including maintaining a driver qualification file, DOT physical, MVR check, and drug screening.
• Willingness to travel, work scheduled hours, and pass background and drug tests.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to see and hear; specific vision abilities required.
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, sitting, and handling objects.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Legal and safe operation of a motor vehicle.
