Position Summary:

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role involves vehicle delivery and return to Penske locations and customers. The position primarily involves moving box trucks up to 26’ and, for CDL Class A holders, tractors and trailers. Assistance to the service department in delivering parts and equipment may also be required.

This is a casual/on-call, part-time truck driving job suitable for licensed CDL Class B or Class A drivers seeking supplemental income, with hours ranging from 0 to 25 per week based on business needs.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Follow safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations.
2. Inspect vehicles for mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment issues; report findings to the manager.
3. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payments when required.
4. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage.
5. Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
• Clean DMV motor vehicle record for at least 2 years.
• CDL Class B license required; CDL Class A preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work independently, with strong customer service, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• Reliable attendance is essential.
• Position regulated by DOT; requires maintaining a driver qualification file including MVR checks, DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records.
• Willingness to travel, work scheduled hours, and pass background and drug screening.
• Ability to work safely and responsibly, accepting responsibility for personal and others’ safety.

Physical Requirements:

• Must see and hear adequately; specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting required.
• Use hands for handling and reaching; regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit vehicles and cargo areas.
