Job description

Position Summary:

Penske Truck Leasing is seeking motivated and qualified applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role involves vehicle delivery and return to Penske locations and customers, primarily moving box trucks up to 26 feet. CDL Class A holders may also handle tractors and trailers. Additionally, the position may assist the service department with delivering parts and equipment.

This casual/part-time role is ideal for licensed CDL Class B or Class A drivers seeking supplemental income, with hours ranging from 0 to 25 per week based on business needs.

Work Hours: Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 7AM-3PM.

Location: 12221 34th St North, St Petersburg, FL 33716.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Follow safety procedures while driving to Penske or customer locations.
2. Check vehicles for mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment functionality; report issues.
3. Obtain receipts or signatures for deliveries and collect payments when required.
4. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage.
5. Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• Clean DMV motor vehicle record for the past 2 years.
• CDL Class B license required; Class A preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Customer service, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• Proficiency in English to comply with federal regulations.
• Regular attendance is essential.
• Compliance with DOT regulations, including maintaining a driver qualification file (MVR check, DOT Physical, Safety Performance History, drug screening, FMCSA Clearinghouse review).
• Willingness to travel, work scheduled hours, and undergo background checks and drug screening.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to see, hear, and perform visual and auditory tasks.
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting.
• Use hands to handle and reach, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Legal and safe operation of motor vehicles, including entering/exiting the vehicle and cargo area.
