Job description

Position Summary:

Penske Truck Leasing in Santa Rosa is seeking motivated and qualified applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role involves vehicle delivery, returning vehicles to Penske locations and customers, primarily moving box trucks up to 26’, with CDL Class A drivers handling tractors and trailers. The position may also assist the service department with delivering parts and equipment.

This is a casual, on-call, part-time truck driving job suitable for licensed CDL Class B or Class A drivers seeking supplemental income, with flexible hours ranging from 0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Follow safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations.
2. Inspect vehicles for mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment; report issues to the location manager.
3. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payments as required.
4. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages.
5. Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
• Clean DMV motor vehicle record for at least 2 years.
• CDL Class B license required; Class A preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work independently with strong customer service, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• Regular, predictable attendance is essential.
• Compliance with DOT regulations, including maintaining a driver qualification file, annual MVR check, DOT physical, and safety history records.
• Willingness to travel, work scheduled hours at designated locations, and pass background and drug screenings.
• Ability to work safely and responsibly, ensuring personal and others’ safety.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to see, hear, and meet vision requirements.
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting are required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to operate a vehicle safely and enter/exit the vehicle and cargo areas regularly.

Salary: $23.00/hr for Class A drivers plus shift differential when applicable.
