Job summary

Samuel, Son & Co. is seeking a dedicated Class A CDL driver to safely transport steel materials on flatbed trailers in Alpharetta, GA. You will secure loads, follow schedules, and maintain accurate delivery records.

The role requires experience with flatbeds, DOT compliance, and strong customer service. Training is provided for ideal candidates; PPE is supplied and safety is emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL with appropriate weight classification.
  • 2 years verifiable Tractor Trailer Experience preferred.
  • 1 year flatbed and steel experience preferred (Training provided).
  • Knowledge of DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Able to pass pre-employment DOT physical and background check.
  • Strong customer service skills and professional attitude.
  • Acceptable MVR – no more than 2 moving violations in 36 months.
  • Steel, Heavy Haul, Oversized Freight experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of FMCSA and State DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Class A CDL flatbed truck to transport steel materials.
  • Secure steel products with straps/chains to prevent damage during transit.
  • Adhere to traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck.
  • Follow routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Assist with loading/unloading using forklifts, cranes, or other equipment.
  • Maintain delivery records including mileage and fuel usage.
  • Communicate with dispatchers, customers, and team members about schedules.
  • Follow safety protocols and use PPE; handle hazardous materials if applicable.
  • Dedicated Conestoga trailers - NO TARPING.

Responsibilities
  • Safely and efficiently operate a Class A CDL flatbed truck to transport steel materials.
  • Secure steel products using appropriate strapping, chains, and other securement methods to prevent damage during transit.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving on public roads.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, ensuring that all mechanical and safety components are in proper working order.
  • Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery to customers.
  • Assist with loading and unloading material using forklifts, cranes, and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or delays encountered during transportation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the handling of hazardous materials, if applicable.
  • Dedicated Conestoga trailers - NO TARPING
Role Requirements

Equipment Knowledge
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in Load Securement (strapping, chaining, tarping).
Physical Demands
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, stooping, and climbing in and out of the truck.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and environments, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and dust.
